Meet our moderator Marcel Slavenburg
SKIM has its own in-house qualified moderators. We would like to introduce Marcel Slavenburg. Over the last ten years Marcel has developed himself into a passionate interviewer/moderator. "I really like challenges and innovative approaches", says Marcel, while he is preparing himself for a group discussion. "As a moderator I feel that empathy for both parties is vital to serve as a link between the clients and the respondents – and I happen to be very good at it!"
Almost ten years of experience
"Two years after my graduation at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1999, I started in medical market research and there still has not been a single moment that I have regretted this decision. In January 2008 I started at SKIM in Rotterdam. SKIM has a nice working environment and provides lots of opportunities for initiative. Over the past few years I have coordinated and performed national as well as international qualitative and quantitative market research."
Moderator at heart
"As a moderator I have conversations with medical target groups, in groups or individually on a regular basis. In addition, one of my tasks is to continually be informed on the latest developments and techniques. As a part of that I visited the EphMRA Qualitative Research MasterClass in 2009 to hear about the latest trends. This MasterClass was a perfect way to network and to exchange some thoughts with colleagues."

Methods and techniques
"Just think of something and I have conducted it: workshops, brainstorm sessions, ethnography and the usual group discussions or individual interviews. I am also frequently asked for complex market explorations and treatment analysis. Nonetheless I do not avoid positioning studies and concept & advertising tests".
Broad experience in various indication areas
"The indication areas in which I have conducted research in include asthma, COPD, depression, oncology, schizophrenia, ophthalmic problems, Diabetes, surgical disorders, transplantations, ADHD, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, psoriasis, rheumatologic disorders. Based on my broad experience I am able to read into and emphasize with new indication areas."
Discussion partner for various target groups
"During research projects I get in touch with various audiences, including general practitioners, specialists, nurses (both specialized nurses and general nurses), patients (asthmatic patients, diabetics and transplant patients), Key Opinion Leaders and top clinical experts. I also regularly speak with Pharmacists, hospital pharmacists, participants of the regional FTO's and FTTO's, national Payers and other stakeholders in the world of healthcare."
Moderation in Dutch ànd English
"I conduct interviews or group discussions in both Dutch and in English. I have studied English as part of my degree and lived in England for a couple of years. As a result, I am fully aware of the nuances of this language. At the moment I am working on my accreditation for interpreter / translator in English."
